  • Impact: Assessment and Feedback

    Curriculum Impact

Throughout each block of study, class teachers or external coaches assess the children’s knowledge. Alongside ongoing feedback and the use of coaching, each lesson finishes with an analysis where teachers can use the guidance provided on the PE plans to discuss achievement and next steps. These include teacher and pupil-led assessments focusing on what pupils understand and have achieved both individually and as part of a team with reference to the physical skill and virtue introduced at the start of the lesson.

Half termly, pupils' attainment is recorded and analysed by the subject lead. In response, planning is adapted or intervention, such as cool kids, used to address any gaps in skill.

Importantly, pupils have opportunities to compete against each other in PE lessons, in whole-school events such as Sports Day. We are also members of a local School Sports Partnership and attend a range of inter- school competitions from orienteering to football to cricket.

We have worked with the Royal Ballet and Opera as part of their CPD programme to enable us to improve the provision of dance including assessment and feedback dance ensuring all learners can succeed in dance.
