What we are learning in Autumn Term 1...








In Literacy next term, we will be exploring the work of Shakespeare. We will be focusing on Romeo and Juliet for our fiction, looking at sonnets in poetry and developing our biography skills for our non-fictional work. 

In Maths next term, we will be investigating numbers and number systems, developing our calculating skills and visualising and constructing angles and shape. 


In RE next term, we will be covering the topic – Kingdom of God.

We will explore our views of the Kingdom of God and look at the values demonstrated by Jesus and his parables.  

In science next term, we will be learning about Light including how it's refracted and how our eyes allow us to see.  

In Geography, we will be travelling all around the world in our lessons, practicing our key geographical skills as we go. 

In PE next term, we will be developing our skills through playground games including hockey and tag rugby. 


Computing French D&T
In music next term, we will be looking at the work of the Jackson 5 and the development of pop music. 

In computing next term, we will become game designers! 

This half term, we are working with a French expert to develop our French vocabulary.  In D&T we are looking at recycling and upcycling and using these concepts to design our own textile product.

Children will be given SAT buster books after half term to aid them with revision. 


Other notices:


Don't forget to read every day and practise your spellings and times table tasks.

Times tables are tested on Thursdays and spellings are tested on Friday.

As part of the John Lewis Innovation Challenge, Year 6 designed and built a pawfect dog coat. Our budding business men and women thought hard about what added features would benefit dogs and their owners and even, based on thorough research, decided on a very fair price of £8.99.

Having finished reading Charlie and the Chocolate factory, we were itching to visit our own local Chocolate factory ... Cadbury World!

Now, we are going to deign and make our own chocolate bars inspired by what we learnt on our visit. 

Stephen Hawking and the theory of black holes

To commemorate Stephen Hawking, we conducted some investigations into his theories about how black holes are formed and how they behave. 

Gymnastics - This is me!

We created gymnastics routines to the song 'This is me' from the film 'The Greatest Showman'.
