Welcome to Beech Class
Teacher: Miss Muller
Teaching Assistants: Mrs Davies and Mrs Ferris
This term children will be working through a number of different units including;
The first few weeks in the build up to the SAT's, children will be completing past reading and grammar papers to support and prepare them for these tests.
The children have now covered all the Year 2 maths topics stated in the curriculum. The children will now be learning how to apply that knowledge into various situations and word problems as well as deepening their knowledge to help them achieve greater depth in their mathematical thinking and reasoning.
The first few week of the summer term, the children will be having lots of SAT's practise questions in class and as homework to support them with these tests.
|Our first topic is called 'Easter tide' which focuses on the resurrection of Jesus. By the end of the unit, children will understand that he rose from the dead however still lives on with us in many ways. The second part of the summer term, our topic changes to 'The Church is Born'. This unit of work allows children to explore the Holy Spirit and how this can have an effect on Christians daily living. We will also learn about the Pentecost.||
We commence the summer term looking at living things and their habitats. This will allow the children to study both plants and animals focusing on a range of habitats and micro-habitats (insects) learning about how animals are equipped for their habitat.
We will also be looking at the local area of the school grounds to discover what species we have living here.
Our topic this term is 'Australia' with a particular focus on what we would see if we visited Australia. The children will be learning where in the world Australia is, naming the famous landmarks and learning about the animals that live there.
|PE this term will be with a focus of outdoor games and athletics. This will support the children in the run up to sports day later this summer term.|
